Polar Alignment
Original comment:
Is it possible to implement the PhotoPolarAlign method that is used in Sharpcap Pro? https://github.com/ThemosTsikas/PhotoPolarAlign4 votesThis is now implemented in release 0.9
The best part is that Celestial Pole region need not be visible.
Just a few easy steps:
1. Strap the phone to the mount and lock the Declination axis
2. Rotate around the RA axis while the app collects data
3. Lock the RA axis and align the mount by following directions from the app
With a typical smart-phone camera, the accuracy expected is about 5 arc-minutes. With a 2x add-on lens, the accuracy might be better, in the 1 to 2 arc-minute range.
(I need to verify the precession calculations, so the accuracy might be a little off in this release, but should be good enough for testing) -
Background removal
This will not only help in improving image quality, it will be essential to normalize the image for star detection.

GPS location
Enable the use of built in phone GPS receiver to automatically fill in the location, with an option to still enter manually if GPS fails.
1 voteHi, thanks for reaching out.
This option already exists. When adding a location, if you click the "Automatic" tab, you will see the option to grant GPS permission, and then use the GPS location.
If you are not able to find it, please add a comment here.
