Add Augmented Reality ...
Would it be possible to use a digital camera input for a background of your planetarium? Just to check if the stars on camera are offset from digital representation on screen? If the cameras in modern smartphones are sensitive enough, of course. And maybe an option to set the transparency level of the planetarium. Just an idea....
Work on this has been restarted, after 6 years! The current mobile cameras are much better than earlier generation.

Instead of the background being a plain black screen , use the camera for the background and show what you see through your eyes in the app. That would help out so much. Thanks

The version of Star Walk has this ability. At Twilight the effect is best displayed. The affected my mind would be to allow either the app to be overlaid if you have the camera or based on relative brightness of the image in the camera could be moved to the background. Imagine taking a picture of a friend with a constellation visible in the background.

Add Augmented Reality. In addition to being a pretty feature, this - combined with a good crosshair will allow a good alignment in handheld mode - necessary for those of us whose devices won't calibrate to save their lives. Might even be nice for those who glue the phone to the eyepiece of the telescope to take pictures.
Would like to see better graphics - many apps ghost in some good constellation artwork, along with the milky way. Also label more of the objects. Planets and Sun shown as small thumbnails instead of just another dot would be nice.
Satellite Tracking would be nice.
An improved UI with the ability to control all of the above - transparency of everything, control label appearance and font size, planet thumbnails, apparent star brightness, ect.
Would happily pay for something that combines your alignment capabilities with the features offered by the others.

Indeed it is possible to have a background layer of bright objects (landscape, etc) ala Vortex Planetarium.
I had initially thought that it will not be as useful as a background layer of stars.
However, showing the background layer of bright objects might be useful too. Will think more about this.
