Yes, it makes sense to have a dynamic location that is based on current location of the device. This will benefit those users who don't mind keeping location services enabled for longer times. Not a big issue these days because newer versions of Android offer good control over location permissions for apps.
Note to myself: A related idea would be to inform the user when current location is very different from their currently selected named location, if any.
Aside, note that a few feet or few yards will not make much difference in terms of accuracy. 2 kilometers on the earth's surface roughly translates to about 1 arc-minute of difference on the celestial sphere.

The ability to jump to a year was added in a recent SkEye release.
The ability to mark an event in the calendar is a nice idea. SkEye could just add an event in the user’s calendar. It wouldn’t have to keep track of the event itself!

Reopening, because I think there is potential here for creative uses that I hadn’t thought of before.
Such as aligning a radio antenna to East (as suggested by Adrian on email).
An error occurred while saving the comment This might be a good idea if the user has already performed a leveling of the mount and knows that they have the OTA pointed directly upwards by way of a level. If the location has no view of the NCP is not possible could some other point work?/ like three or four far away points? Bridge top, antenna, things that don't move. Set up before dark, ready to go early?

An error occurred while saving the comment I think the application here is for the person to compare what they're seeing in their telrad to the View on the screen. If the tel rad continues to stay the same size as the user pinches in it does not make a good comparison to the view of the tel rad on the scope if I understand this suggestion

Work on this has been restarted, after 6 years! The current mobile cameras are much better than earlier generation.
An error occurred while saving the comment The version of Star Walk has this ability. At Twilight the effect is best displayed. The affected my mind would be to allow either the app to be overlaid if you have the camera or based on relative brightness of the image in the camera could be moved to the background. Imagine taking a picture of a friend with a constellation visible in the background.

Perhaps this user would have an easier time if the app could access the camera during his daytime planning. This way the trees will be visible on the screen and as the user manipulates time machine they can see when the target comes out from behind the tree or house Etc. The relative transparency of the camera image or app would be important.
