Can the orientation be changed so I can mount my phone to my scope on its back?
I want to be able to mount my Samsung Galaxy iiS on its back to my 10" metal tube scope. Can the orientation be changed so that I can point the end of the phone to my location instead of the back of the phone?
1 voteYes, this is possible via “Settings” dialog. Change the principal orientation to “Landscape”.
I may have not understood your comment fully. If so, please elaborate.

Learn about the sky at home
SkEye as a learning instrument: Already great because H.A. Ray's connecting lines are used for delineating the the constellations (as the only app I know).
I'd like to be able to quickly increase or decrease the amount of information on screen. So, how about implementing a button row for toggling on and off the names of stars and constellations, as well as the constellation markings.
One final issue: Am I the only one who misses a horizon?1 voteHi,
Most of what you have mentioned has been implemented in the latest version of SkEye.
Please have a look at this video:

add a filter to only display certain objects in the fov
It would be nice to be able to filter out different layers (galaxies, stars, planets, meteors, satellites etc)
Also beta 6.3 working good on my s4 FYI :)

Thanks for the suggestions.
Changes along these lines have been implemented in the latest version of SkEye.
Please have a look at this video:

Journaling...
Add logging functionality accessible to the end user that acts like a journal of objects found. The text to speech function in Android would be a good way to take notes in the field while I'm observing.
1 voteNice idea Steve.
Incidentally, Pietro created a very similar idea that has more votes and subscribers.
I can’t merge the ideas in this website (under the free plan). So can you and David please upvote Pietro’s idea?
Sorry for the inconvenience.

No data base. does not display any names or lables
I have a htc hdma hero rooted and with CyanogenMod gingerbread rom. Skeye 3.1 works fine except displayes no names or lables for anything. Just a screen full of stars and constellation lines. Do I need Pro to get these??
1 voteNo reply; marking this as done for now.

The ability to lock the screen on
Hi, I have just got the app & moving up from Google sky in conjunction with my telescope. I'm wondering if its possible to stop my screen timing out/ locking. With Google sky the screen will not go lock until you exit the app.
Any chance of this being worked in?
1 votePushed a new release 6.4.1 in which the screen stays on on all my devices.
The previous version released today (6.4.0b) had a silly mistake.

Port to run on Blackberry Z10.
Android phones are good at running apps, but are not very good as a telephone. The Blackberry is a very good phone but with limited applications. The new Z10 can run Android apps such as Kindle etc... I am therefore wondering how to go about porting SkEye to my BB10.
1 voteFrom what I understand, the newest Blackberry branded phones support Android apps natively.
This may not work for older Blackberries, and I never managed to move this forward, but I am marking it as "completed".

Crashes on HTC Wildfire
I have been trying this out on an HTC Wildfire and find that it crashes after first alignment, while searching for the second. Aligned on Altair, then searched for Vega and while lining up the OTA, the phone went back to the home screen. Had to re-enter skeye, re-align to Altair and it crashed again while centering on Vega.
1 voteBased on the logs provided by Alistair, it was apparent that the OS in HTC Wildfire is buggy.
Unfortunately there’s not much I can do about it right now.

General Feedback - No new idea
Harshad, I just used your app the other night and as your user guide mentions, observers are best off aligning in the specific areas for which they are observing. It worked flawlessly! I love it and keep up the excellent and outstanding work. Your hard work has paid off for the backyard astronomer. I thank you for allowing your app on the market. I can't wait until my local sky conditions open up again. It made backyard astronomy more fun for my kids!
1 voteAlthough I like coding and astronomy, there are times when programming can be dreary. It is feedback such as this that keeps me motivated and invigorated. Thanks again and wish you clear skies!

The possibility install clarity of the program on your screen
Perhaps also for the stars
1 voteI have improved the brightness factor of the app in the latest version.
Thanks for your feedback.

Support for tablets (large size displays)
Good morning Harshad,
Great upgrades. I am getting very close to purchasing a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Does SkEye scale to the tablet?
1 voteI just got my Asus Transformer today and tested out SkEye.
It scales well to the Tablet size. Sure, I could optimise for the big size, but it does quite well right now.

Maps Skeye vibrate strongly.
Maps Skeye vibrate strongly with NGM Quasar. Maybe because the internal magnetometer is not very sensitive. However, with Google SkyMap it does not. Probably Skeye must mediate multiple readings provided by the magnetometer?
1 voteHi Marco,
SkEye does a lot of filtering of magnetometer readings. Perhaps you can try decreasing the sensitivity in the settings.
For more details you can read the documentation here:

How about linking to Heavens Above and plot the sattelite info on the display?
we often have haze near the coast, add light, trees (in my case) etc and its often difficult to see enough stars to identify the constellations it passes through.
1 voteI have implemented real-time satellite tracking. It is available as an early preview in SkEye Pro 2.2.
I still need to provide configuration options for it, but the core algorithms have been implemented, hence marking this as complete.

Direct User to Object After Long Press In Manual Scroll Mode
Love the progam.
One suggestion:
In Manual Scrolling mode, allow the user to do a 'long button press' on a star object. The program would then exit Manual Scrolling and direct the user to the object using the green circle pointer.Thank you for your fine work and I will get the paid version.
Mark
0 votesThis is implemented in version 5.3 released today. Thanks for suggesting.
There is now a search button beside the object description (on top). Clicking this will start searching that object.
It will not switch out of Manual scrolling mode however, since there are multiple uses for this feature. Switching out of manual mode is just one of them. To switch out of manual scrolling mode, click the “Back” button on top.

Find an object
Search for an object, with visual cues, like in Google SkyMap
