  1. Be able to change to original Greek constellation names rather than latin

    What the title says also the ability to change the language of the interface (Not with bot translation though) would be also nice.

    P.S Even better would be to have alternative names in pop ups or brackets etc

  2. keep a list of recent searches

    keep a list of searches so we can pick from it instead of typing!

    Would make it so much easier to use the app.

  3. giving a quiz about star and asterism locations

    There should be a separate mode in which the user selects what they want to learn, and they must point their phone toward the object, bringing it within the circle. If the person is asked to 'find polaris' they must center it, find Kochab (nearby), maybe the circle is smaller. Maybe if they must find a constellation, the circle is bigger. Similar to Sky Academy App. An interactive quiz while looking at the sky at the same time, with one eye on the phone and the other on the sky, is something I would pay more $ to have such…

  4. Ideas for widgets

    One that shows the moonrise and sunset time, another with percentage of moon visibility (maybe like a moon shaped thing, waxes and wanes accordingly).

  5. Added search level

    Search/catalog/stars (pro) Add a 2nd level to search, first by constellation, then by name. Currently very difficult to find due to multiple star designations

  6. Filter by compass

    Filter list of objects by compass points. Could be a selection list, tick off those desired. I never have a full sky to view, and this would be very handy.

  7. Polar Alignment Tools

    I use SkEye for aligning my Star tracker (currently MSM, soon to be Star Adventurer 2i as well) and I think there are a handful of features which would make SkEye the clear choice for this style of quick phone based PA for wide field astrophotography.

    1) I've added this to my Custom Catalog in the Pro version, but it would be nice to have the NCP and SCP as searchable targets in the database. One of may favourite things in SkEye is the green reticle literally pointing you to the target. Very useful for Polar Alignment.

    2) Polar Alignment…

  8. Option to use current location

    I may be out hiking. Needing to add my location each time is unnecessary. If I plan on going back then I can see saving the spot but even then your location could be off by a few feet or a few hundred yards.

    Yes, it makes sense to have a dynamic location that is based on current location of the device. This will benefit those users who don't mind keeping location services enabled for longer times. Not a big issue these days because newer versions of Android offer good control over location permissions for apps.

    Note to myself: A related idea would be to inform the user when current location is very different from their currently selected named location, if any.

    Aside, note that a few feet or few yards will not make much difference in terms of accuracy. 2 kilometers on the earth's surface roughly translates to about 1 arc-minute of difference on the celestial sphere.

  9. Polar Alignment Tools: Offeset Mode

    Splitting my original post out into one idea per post;

    https://skeye.uservoice.com/forums/93533-skeye-app/suggestions/45140077-polar-alignment-tools

    The further you get from the equator, the higher in the sky the NCP & SCP get. Currently I have my phone mounted perpendicular to my Star Tracker to get alignment which makes it very hard sometimes to get down to view and control the phone. Would be awesome if there was an offset option in SkyEye so I could mount my phone horizontal to my tracker with the screen facing upwards. SkEye would effectively offset all the values coming from the sensor by 90 degrees so on the…

  10. Polar Alignment Tools: PA Mode

    Splitting my original post out into one idea per post;

    https://skeye.uservoice.com/forums/93533-skeye-app/suggestions/45140077-polar-alignment-tools

    Have a Polar Alignment Mode where when enabled the device is assumed to be locked off on a tripod (no handheld movement/jitter). From here, have SkEye filter outlying sensor readings (standard deviation function or similar) so that the readings can be more readily relied upon for Polar Alignment within a degree or so accuracy.

    This is generally good enough for very wide astrophotography. For instance, the MSM star tracker provides a laser pointer for those in the Northern Hemisphere to point to Polaris, which is about 45 arcmin off…

  11. Polar Alignment Tools: NCP & SCP as targets in catalog

    Splitting my original post out into one idea per post;

    https://skeye.uservoice.com/forums/93533-skeye-app/suggestions/45140077-polar-alignment-tools

    Add the North & South Celestial Poles into the catalog so that they can be searched and targeted. This will help with initial polar alignment, and may even be sufficiently accurate for very wide field astrophotography for exposures up to a few minutes.

    I use this method already to get 2 minute exposures using up to 35mm lenses on my Full Frame cameras.

  13. Add ability to create and share custom constellations or asterisms.

    In a user interface allow me to create and share my own constellations. Allow me to toggle these on and off or use another color, esp for asterisk like big dipper within Ursa Major. It would perhaps allow me to more personally identify with patterns of stars in the sky. Also allow me to selectively use constellations from other cultures.

  15. Lunar light "pollution." Based on the moon phase, add an option to simulate the washout of stars from moonlight.

    0In increasing the area of effect, add a halo/shadow that makes lower magnitude Stars less visible on the screen, similar to how the moon tends to wash out nearby Stars. This effect would be enabled and disabled quickly by toggling on to the moon. Maybe simply an inverted lunar shadow vice a 'dimming'. Helpful in identifying stars near the moon in the sky. A sliding adjustment bar for magnitude relative and in vicinity of of the Moon could be in the controls. This way the user controls the radius of the Shadow and the amount of apparent washing out.

    Whenever I use desktop planetariums, I usually turn off atmosphere effects, hence I am not sure of the utility of this. But recording here to gather others' feedback.

  19. Add support for daylight savings time

    It seems to me that SkEye v8.3.6 ignores the daylight savings time offset when the daylight savings are in effect. Support for DST would be appreciated by those who live where DST is in effect.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. In the settings on the Android device set the time zone to Pacific Time (-7 with DST)
    2. In the SkEye set location to San Francisco, CA, USA
    3. Search for the Moon
    4. Press scroll button
    5. Select time machine and set the date/time to May, 26, 2021, 04:18 am
    - observe: the moon is not close enough to antisolar…

  20. Playlist/bookmark function - add an object, store it and display it

    Select a target in viewing mode

    Long-press or provide a button to store it like a playlist/bookmark

    In indirect mode, make the playlist available as separate tab and also within map view using a unique symbol like a "!" or a check/tick mark
